Izod is a young orphanrd Irish boy, who is a member of the Laughingstock crew.
Appearance[]
His physical appearance is never described in the book, but he believes that he is about ten years old. He does not know for sure, since he never celebrated his birthday since his parents' deaths.
Role In The Book[]
He is living on the streets as a pick-pocket, until one day he is forced by a press-gang to join a naval ship, under a cruel captain named Grausam. He is taken to a mysterious colony of islands inhabited by only pirates. He is eventually freed by Percival, who allows Izod to join his crew.
The crew of the Laughingstock agrees to help him find his way back home, as long as he helps out on the ship. He seems to enjoy being part of the crew, and at one point wishes to tell Percival he wants to stay.
Trivia[]
- It is believed his Candle Cove counterpart is Janice.
- After the Laughingstock crew meet with Clarenza, Izod has nightmares of her torturing Joseph Threelegs. Percival is curious how Izod has these nightmares, as the boy had no knowledge of these events transpiring.
