Jodie Silver (born 1962) is the second actress who portrays the character Janice, and is the actress used in the majority of the show.
Biography[]
She was around 9 years of age at the time of recording Candle Cove. She was hired after a situation with Louis Cuttingham's parents forced Emerson Grimes to find a new actress. Jodie's Aunt, the mother of Jennifer Hinshaw (who played Melrose) suggested Jodie be the one to replace Louis, since Jodie had performed lead roles in a couple of local plays when she was 5 and 6.
The change in actresses was easily noticed by viewers of the show, as her hair was blonde, and she was taller and obviously older than the previous actress. However, she was a good actress, and appeared to be well embraced by the audience. After her first appearance, her hair was cut short. By season two, her hair had become somewhat more strawberry blonde, and was cut even shorter than in season one.
Post-Candle Cove[]
She was interviewed in Tales of the Laughingstock, about 35 years after the show ended. She married a man named Damon Louis, and had two children. She admitted to Ischmael Dugong that her time on the show gave her recurring nightmares, ruined her childhood, and caused her to need therapy.
Jodie recalled that initially she was excited to join Candle Cove as she was a huge fan of "Jumbo's Circus", "Sunshine City" and "Fisherman Fred". However, this soon changed when Emerson Grimes began changing the show's scripts to a darker tone, and forced Jodie to partake in the "Screaming Episode". The sight of Michael Colon choking on his own blood from screaming too much caused Jodie to cry uncontrollably.
