Candle Cove Wiki

Lillian is the mother of Auburn, and captain of the Tarantula crew. She is one of the greatest swordswomen in all of Candle Cove.

Appearance

She is described as having long blonde wavy hair, fair skin with freckles, and emerald green eyes. She has a quite youthful appearance, and is often believed to be younger than her real age. Sometimes she wears just a bandana, other times she wears a slouch hat.

Personality

She is said to be brave, honest, and true. She is sensitive to the emotions of others, and is very protective of those close to her. She is a natural leader, and her crew loyally follow her.

However, she also has a wild streak. She is quite impulsive, and often makes rash decisions based on her gut feelings. She is very trusting of others, and many of her crew members were accepted on a whim, including Red Mary.

Notable Novels

  • In "Candle Cove: Come and Rip", Lillian had been separated from her crew and stranded on an island. She is nursed back to health by a strange man named Thade Soben, and she invites him to join her pirate crew as he wishes to see the world. Two years after this event, Red Mary betrays the crew and burns their ship down. Lillian escapes on a life boat along with Boar, Thade, and Percy. The boat washes ashore on an island, so they take refuge in a village.
  • In "Candle Cove: In Red Tides", Lillian and Boar are the only ones to stay in the village. She gives birth to her daughter Auburn, and Boar helps raise her. One day, Red Mary returns to attack the village. As she threatens her daughter, Lillian instructs Boar to get Auburn to safety as she engages Red Mary in a swordfight. However, Red Mary proves to be too powerful and kills Lillian. Her body is burned as Red Mary sets the village on fire. She is later buried in a graveyard by Boar and Auburn.

Trivia

  • She makes an appearance in the Candle Cove cartoon pilot.
  • Before the events of the novels, she had been disowned by her parents when she was unable to convince a wealthy nobleman to marry her, as he had already chosen a woman from a poor family over Lillian.
  • After Lillian's death, Thade returns to the village and cries over her corpse. He then skins her arm and makes a wristband out of it, swearing he will never let them be separated again. It is at this moment he becomes the Skin-Taker.
